AT THE HEART OF CARIBBEAN ART

Fernand

What interests Fernand in art is not representing what he sees but to appeal to dichotomies of emotions traversing the human experience s. His work is somewhat a elegy to human consciousness and the colours within each artwork are the unspoken words he uses to communicate with the viewer. “I believe that the function of the artist is not to translate an observation but to express his own personal viewpoint and to watch how the viewer reacts, “he says.  What Fernand dreams of is an art of balance, of purity and serenty, devoid of troubling of depressing subject matter. The entire arrangement of his images are expressive; the place occupied by the figures, the empty spaces around them, the proportions, each serves its purpose and has its share.
